Ballades

What Happens After Death, Could You Find?

There is nothing amiss, you say, in this pulchritudinous world,
A world that’s bound beyond a doubt by time and space.
You say everything changes for the better, even in the netherworld;
What for do I then see people running a blissfully pathetic race?
Some, you see, don a mask to hide their reality, their factual face.
And there are some who go about conning many a young mind;
But I just ask this question today as I only everything embrace:
If nothingness exists, what happens after death, could you find?

I’ve dwelt in cities where I had to quietly take abuses hurled;
People in those cities did judge others by their race;
I learnt once the safest were those in touch with the underworld,
For they could get away with murder without a hue and cry or chase.
What I have undergone is saddening, nothing less than a disgrace;
But my mind tells me that the past I should not needlessly rewind.
Hence, I just ask this question today as I only everything embrace:
If nothingness exists, what happens after death, could you find?

Do you think the place we are abiding in is, as they say, a dream-world?
For the flora and fauna perish after a time, only they have their pace;
If everything we see is real, then why is everything so wonderfully swirled?
Am I the creator of the world I see, do I make stories and them erase?
But wait, there is one thing really real, and that is nothing but divine grace;
For without that, could things be harmonized, or in this manner designed?
Well, I just ask this question today as I only everything embrace:
If nothingness exists, what happens after death, could you find?

I do my duties diligently, all of which I come across in this very place,
What I doubly ensure is to try my best in all situations to be kind;
Oh, yeah! I also ask this question today as I only everything embrace:
If nothingness exists, what happens after death, could you find?
