My twenty seventh birthday is today,
Unfortunately, I’ll all day stay home.
Have many things to work upon my way;
What I cannot do right now though is roam.
My mum and my aunt wished me fast and first,
Then I got several amazing calls;
Some balloons I want to joyously burst;
Such that the noise created just appalls.
Praying to God right now, I only ask
The power to simply and calmly be.
I’m now, you know, sporting a saffron mask,
Recalling the days I was fully free.
A lockdown birthday is what I observe;
There’s nothing more than this I now deserve.
